Floods warnings after heavy rain

Sandbags at a house Homes across Wrexham, Flintshire and Denbighshire have been hit by floods after torrential rain overnight.

North Wales Fire Service said they were called to deal with "minor" floods at nine locations, including Shotton, Hawarden, Pontblyddyn and Trevor.

Sandbags were used in some cases and at one property near Mold, water reached a level of a foot (0.3m).

The Fire Service said more flash floods may be possible following a severe weather warning from the Met Office.

A spokeswoman said: "Officers from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called out to several incidents of minor flooding during the night.

"Officers were mobilised to give advice on the outdoor flooding, and in some cases the local council was drafted in with sandbags to prevent the flooding from entering properties in the area."

In Denbighshire, firefighters responded to a call at Trevor, near Llangollen.

In Flintshire, there were incidents at Mynydd Isa, Northop Hall, Connah's Quay, Pant Blythen, Shotton and Aston Hill.

In Wrexham, flooding was reported at a property in Express Road.
