Police investigating the murder of 90-year-old Elsie Hughes at Abermorddu near Wrexham have been given more time to question two men.
A man, 32, from Buckley, Flintshire, and a 37-year-old from Ellesmere Port, Cheshire were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of murder and deception.
Mrs Hughes died in hospital from multiple injuries on 9 September 2005.
A man and woman, both 59, who were being questioned on suspicion of deception have been released on bail.
On Wednesday evening, police were granted a further 36 hours to question the two arrested men.
The suspects were arrested on Tuesday morning at three different properties in north Wales and Ellesmere Port. Searches by forensic teams are continuing.
Mrs Hughes, a retired school cook was found gravely injured in the living room of her home and died later at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
Detectives say around £200 in cash had been stolen from Mrs Hughes and they believe the attacker was motivated by theft.
£30,000 reward
Officers have previously appealed for information about a man in a hooded top who was seen in the area on the night Mrs Hughes was attacked.
They have also tried to trace a dark blue Ford Escort van.
In December, detectives offered a £30,000 reward for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the murderer.
A 59-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman, both from the Connah's Quay area, were arrested on suspicion of deception offences against elderly people across the north-west. They were released on police bail late on Tuesday after being questioned.
Detective Superintendent Chris Corcoran, who is leading the murder inquiry, said he was still urging anyone with information to contact the incident room in Wrexham.
