Appeal after body found on beach

South Wales Police are appealing for information after the body of a 67-year-old man was discovered on a beach.

The man's body was recovered from Newton beach, Porthcawl, on Sunday morning by a coastguard team.

His death is not being treated as suspicious but officers want to piece together his last movements after he was seen in Bridgend on Saturday night.

He was seen on Coity Road, after leaving the Railway Canteen at 2300 BST.

He is described as wearing a dark grey bomber-style jacket and dark grey trousers.

His body was recovered from the beach at about 0715 BST on Sunday.

Det Insp Jason Redrup said: "We are investigating the incident and while there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the unfortunate death of this man we are trying to find out what happened after he was last seen on Coity Road in Bridgend at 11pm on Saturday night."

The coroner has been informed and a formal identification has taken place.
