Murder charge man, 39, remanded

A 39-year-old man has been remanded in custody by magistrates charged with the murder of a 20-year-old man.

Tom Smith died in the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff after suffering stab wounds in an incident in Penyrheol, Caerphilly, south Wales.

Bryan Gilbert Wakeley Evans, of Penyrheol, was remanded until 10 December when he is due to appear before Newport Crown Court.

A 19-year-old has also been arrested and is still in police custody.

Two teenagers, aged 17 and 18, were bailed earlier by police.

The investigation involves 50 officers.

Police were called to Heol Tir Gibbon in Penyrheol at around 0135 GMT on Saturday.
