A businessman has told how he tried to save the life of a company director who was tied up in his burning office.
Allan Styles rescued three other men on Monday from Driverline 247, a driver recruitment agency at New Inn, Pontypool, Torfaen.
But he said he believed Kingsley Monk, 45, from Oakdale near Blackwood, was already dead when he arrived.
A 52-year-old Cardiff man is being questioned on suspicion of murder and other charges.
Mr Styles, who works at Gwent Auto Factors next door, said he noticed smoke billowing into his premises on the industrial estate.
He said he went into Driverline 247 and found Mr Monk tied up, along with three other men.
"I ran into the unit next door," said Mr Styles. "I could see the fire was really bad so I ran back into my place to get a fire extinguisher."
Mr Styles said he tried to resuscitate Mr Monk, but was unable to.
"They (the three other men) had all been tied up. I had to cut the men free because they had been tied with cable ties and they were quite tight."
'Pretty gruesome'
The three local men were all treated in hospital but have since been allowed home.
Mr Styles is now back at work but said it would take some time to recover from what he saw in the incident on Monday.
"It has been a bit too much over the last few days, " he said.
"I won't forget what I saw for a bit. It was pretty gruesome."
The identity of the Cardiff man who was arrested at Newport rail station late on Monday has not been revealed.
Officers made the arrest after earlier surrounding a property in Rumney in Cardiff.
Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the suspected murder.
They also revealed that Mr Monk had been "restrained" for several hours before his death, along with the three other victims.
Officers are continuing to search for a handgun which it is believed was discarded along the A4042.
