Murder charge after pub assault

The Tredegar Arms pub

A 25-year-old man has been charged with murder after a man who was assaulted outside a south Wales pub died.

Alan Brown, 45, of New Tredegar, was taken to hospital on Sunday after the attack outside the Tredegar Arms Hotel, Tredegar, but died on Monday.

Police initially arrested four men in connection with the death but three of them were released on police bail.

The 25-year-old from Abertysswg is to appear at Caerphilly Magistrates' Court later.

A 29-year-old man arrested by Gwent Police on suspicion of murder has been released on bail.

The other two men - a 19-year-old from Ebbw Vale and a 21-year-old from Tredegar - who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have also been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
