Supermarket Sainsbury's has launched an investigation into reports of drunken behaviour at a staff party at the Welsh venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup.
Seven hundred Sainsbury's staff were at the five-star Celtic Manor Resort near Newport on Thursday night.
Police called to the hotel in the early hours of Friday made one arrest.
A Sainsbury's spokeswoman said the problems involved a "small number" and it was "extremely concerned by the reports," which would be investigated.
"We will fully investigate the incident and take appropriate action against staff, where necessary."
It is believed that supermarket managers and staff from across the UK were at the hotel for a retail awards champagne reception and dinner.
Breach of the peace
A spokeswoman for Gwent Police confirmed its officers were called to the Celtic Manor in the early hours of Friday morning.
One person was arrested in connection with a breach of the peace, she said.
Following reports of drunken behaviour at the event, the supermarket group promised an investigation.
Sainsbury's' spokeswoman said 700 people attended the event and that the problems were caused by "a small number of people".
The Celtic Manor Resort will host golf's Ryder Cup, one of the world's biggest sporting events, in September 2010.
A spokesman for the hotel confirmed there were "incidents" there on Thursday evening and Friday morning.
He would not comment on how much damage there was to the hotel, but said: "The incident has been dealt with and I can't comment further as this would break the confidentiality agreement we have with our clients.
