South Wales Police have named one of two motorists who died in separate road crashes early on Saturday.
Gareth Edwards, 19, an apprentice IT engineer, from Brynmenyn near Bridgend, died on the A4063 between Coytrahen and Llanynwyd at about 0430 GMT.
His family said he was a "larger than life character and made the most of everything".
A 60-year-old man was killed in a Ford Fiesta on the westbound carriageway of the M4 between junctions 33 and 34.
The crash happened at about 0645 GMT.
'Much loved'
Police are appealing for witnesses to both incidents.
Mr Edwards was a former pupil of Ynysawdre Comprehensive School and had recently started work.
His interests included rugby, diving, music and skiing.
"Gareth enjoyed life to the full. He was much loved and left a lasting impression on everyone who met him and was at ease with people of all ages," said his family.
"He was a much-loved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and boyfriend to Kelly and will never be forgotten."
