Police investigate nightclub death

The Venue nightclub, Ruthin

North Wales Police are investigating the death of a woman at a nightclub.

Lowri Angharad Louise Thomas, 24, was taken ill at the Venue club in Ruthin in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Ms Thomas is the daughter of the director of finance of Denbighshire County Council, Mr Nigel Thomas, who lives in the Gellifor in the Vale of Clwyd.

Officers are investigating the possibility the incident may have been drug-related.

But a North Wales Police spokesman said that further forensic examination would be made to establish the specific cause of death.

Ysbyty Glan Clwyd
Following a post mortem examination at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, police said that further forensic tests are required and that it is too early to say what caused her death.

Ambulance crews were called when Ms Thomas was taken ill but attempts by the paramedics to resuscitate her failed.

They are continuing with inquiries into what happened at the nightclub.

Officers have been speaking to the Ms Thomas's friends to establish her movements and what she had been doing.

The victim lived with her boyfriend in Ruthin and worked at a local children's nursery.
