The discovery has brought to an end the two-month hunt for the 15-year-old who disappeared from near her home.
10 September, 2002: Jenna Baldwin disappeared from her home in Abersychan, near Pontypool in south Wales.
Police said there had been sightings of a girl matching the teenager's description with an older man.
Detectives appealed to the 15-year-old to contact her family.
25 September: Jenna's mother, Desiree Baldwin, launched a poster campaign appealing for information.
Police also held a press conference and disclosed Jenna had been seen with a man and might have left with him.
Detective Chief Inspector John Oliver, the man leading the hunt for Jenna, said police now "feared the worst".
17 October: Desiree Baldwin made a public plea for Jenna to come home after the family received a series of silent phone calls.
18 October: Members of Jenna's family said they had received a series of text messages claiming to be from the missing teenager.
21 October: Police dismissed the earlier silent calls made to Jenna's family as a "cruel hoax".
24 October: Detectives made a direct appeal to Jenna via the media after her family received a new text message claiming to be from her.
29 October: Police arrested Mike Baldwin, 36, Jenna's stepfather, on suspicion of murder.
30 October: Police search teams began looking for Jenna's body in woodland and a quarry close to her home.
1 November: The search was hampered by rain and thick fog.
2 November: Mr Baldwin was charged with Jenna's murder.
4 November: Mr Baldwin was remanded in custody at Newport Magistrates Court.
Police issued a statement saying a body found in Pontypool Park was not Jenna.
18 November: Detectives close off the main road between Abergavenny and Blaenavon and search a wooded area known as Fiddler's Elbow - about eight miles from where the teenager disappeared.
19 November: Detectives discover human remains in the early hours of the morning after a 20-member search team scours the area for eight hours.
20 November: Jenna's body is formally identified after tests by a Home Office pathologist.
Gwent Police said they were as certain as they could be that the remains they have found are those of the missing teenager.
A piece of jewellery discovered with the body found in woodland has been identified as belonging to the 15-year-old.
December 6: Inquest hearing into Jenna's death is opened and adjourned.
December 9: Family and friends attend Jenna's funeral service
