The puppets are currently appearing in an adult show at the Edinburgh Festival in a show called Sex, Drugs and Bacon Roll.
Gone are the helium voices and the mole in the hole, with references these days to Britney and Las Vegas.
Planet 24 is reportedly holding discussions for a new television show, provisionally entitled Pinky and Perky Raw.
The puppets' tv return is aimed at their now grown up audience.
Czech-born creators Jan and Vlasta Dalibor discovered they had the Teletubbies of their day when Pinky and Perky became an overnight hit on television in the Fifties.
The duo retired from our screens in 1973 and the Dalibors quietly slipped away to live in the west Wales resort of Newport.
But the puppet double act was revived after their creators sold the rights to Pinky and Perky for £500,000 in 1999.
Two generations of children grew up on Pinky and Perky, who started out after they were "talent spotted" at a Leeds cabaret night.
They went on appeared on It's Up to You.
The Dalibors, now in their 80s, said they are intrigued to see how their creations could be revived.
"I do not think they could be very rude," said Jan, a former sculptor, who fled Czechoslovakia in 1948, after criticising the Communist regime.
"I think we brought them up to be proper," said Vlasta.
The Dalibors grew up in a culture where Czech children loved puppetry and the tradition has carried on in the modern age, with the internationally famous marionettes created by Jan Svankmayer.
