Rain fails to dampen T time fun

Overnight rain and continued showers have done nothing to dampen the spirits of thousands of revellers at the final day of T in the Park in Kinross-shire.

Some 85,000 people were expected at Scotland's largest music festival on Sunday, with performances from Snow Patrol and Blur topping the bill.

Blur last performed at T in the Park in 1999.

They announced they were to reform in December, five years after guitarist Graham Coxon left the band.

Elbow, Bloc Party, Lily Allen and the Pet Shop Boys were among the other acts rounding out the start-studded bill on Sunday.

The mood among festival-goers was buoyant as they arrived at the site on Sunday.

Yolanda Kerr, 20, from Cambuslang attended the festival with her three sisters.

She said: "We're feeling good even though it's raining. I wish it was sunny, but it's still quite warm so we're having a good day."

Her sister Christina said they were determined not to miss any of their favourites, which included Lily Allen, The Script and The Saturdays.

"We've got alarms set on our phones for the rest of the day, so we know where we're going," she said.

"So we're organised, and now we're getting ready to go."

Colin Maguire, 32, had just arrived at the site from his home in Dunfermline.

'Great vibe'

He said: "It's a pity the weather has turned a wee bit cooler today but apart from that it's brilliant - great atmosphere, and a few refreshments as well to keep you going"

"I'm personally looking forward to seeing the Pet Shop Boys - that's a bit of my era."

His brother Paul, 34, said they had been enjoying the food and entertainment on offer, as well as the music. "I think half the fun is just having a wander and stumbling across bands and different people," he said.

Ch Supt Craig Suttie of Tayside Police described another quiet night for police in the main arena and campsite with, to date, a reported 202 crimes and 75 arrests, with 12 custodies anticipated for Monday.

Some 1,233 people had passed through the First Aid Tent for minor injuries including trips and falls, 557 have been treated at the on-site hospital of which 31 have been sent to an off-site hospital to be treated for minor ailments.

T in the Park event manager Colin Rodger said: "I'm really pleased with the way things are going at the festival so far.

"The atmosphere in the arena is first class, all the stages are running well and there's a great vibe throughout the whole event from backstage through to the campsite."
