Teenage lorry death near festival

Moto services entrance

A teenager has died after being hit by a lorry close to the T in the Park festival in Kinross-shire.

Tayside Police said 17-year-old Lachlan Gillies, of Errol, Perthshire, suffered fatal head injuries.

He was injured near the Moto services on the A977 near Kinross at about 1830 BST on Friday.

A trauma team was sent from Dundee and he was taken to the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline, but he later died.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them.

Ch Insp Hugh Robson, of Tayside Police. said: "Part of our ongoing enquiry is to ascertain whether he was going into the event and whether he had a ticket.

"We are trying to trace persons at the venue who were in his company, and any other witness to the incident."
