Construction of a third stand for Falkirk's Westfield football stadium has begun.
The work, which has been subject to numerous delays, is being done thanks to a £2m pledge from Schuh founder and Falkirk supporter Sandy Alexander.
When complete the new south facing stand will seat up to 1,800 supporters.
The construction is being carried out by Ogilvie on behalf of the South Stand Development Company and is due to be completed by July 2009.
Falkirk stadium is run by Falkirk Council and Falkirk Football Club jointly as Falkirk Community Stadium Ltd (FCSL).
FCSL chief executive Peter Eadie said the new stand would be a mirror image of the north stand and would hopefully be ready for the beginning of next season.
He acknowledged that the process of creating a new stadium for Falkirk Football Club had been subject to uncertainty but insisted the aim was still to have a four-stand stadium.
He said: "Because of the current financial climate, it has not been possible to finance the land development in the way we had hoped.
"But once the market starts to improve our aim is to have a completed stadium."
