Police probe attempt to rob hotel

Two men are wanted by police after they tried to rob a hotel in Perth.

The pair, who had their faces covered, burst into the Isle of Skye Hotel in Dundee Road at about 0410 GMT.

They threatened a member of staff and demanded money but then ran off empty handed. The worker, who is in his early 20s, has been left very shaken.

Officers are checking CCTV footage and have appealed for anyone with information about the culprits to contact Tayside Police.

A spokesperson for the hotel said: "An attempted robbery took place at the Isle of Skye Hotel in the early hours of this morning.

"Thankfully no-one was hurt during the incident. The safety of our staff is of paramount importance to us and we are currently helping police with their investigations."
