Man beaten unconscious in street

Police have appealed for information after a man was beaten unconscious and left lying on the pavement in Dundee.

Locals reported hearing a commotion in Garland Place at about 0110 BST on Friday and saw a man repeatedly punching and kicking the victim.

He suffered a broken nose, damaged teeth and cheek bone and eye socket fractures. He is under sedation at Ninewells Hospital.

The culprit is about 5ft 9in tall and possibly spoke with an Irish accent.

Officers want anyone who thinks they can identify the suspect or the victim to come forward.
