Twelve walkers are embarking on a history-inspired 104-mile trek from Fort William to Falkirk to mark this year's Royal National Mod.
They will set off on Saturday and retrace the route of cattle drovers who followed the same path with their livestock hundreds of years ago.
Locals believe it was the resulting gatherings of traders that inspired the festival celebrating Gaelic culture.
The week-long Mod is due to kick-off in Falkirk on 10 October.
The walkers will be en route for seven days and will call at Glencoe, Kinlochleven, Tyndrum, Inverarnan, Rowardennan and Fintry along the way, before arriving back in Falkirk on 19 September.
Taking part in the trek will be Falkirk Provost Pat Reid and Mod organiser Angus MacDonald.
About 10,000 people from across the world are expected to attend this year's festival.
The Mod, an annual showcase for traditional music, poetry and song, was first held in Oban in 1892.
