Former Celtic director charged

The former Celtic director and chairman of Livingston FC, Dominic Keane, has appeared in court charged with fraud.

Mr Keane was arrested in Glasgow on Sunday then transferred to Dundee.

He is accused of forming a fraudulent scheme to obtain almost £2.5m from the Royal Bank of Scotland, where he used to work, in Dundee.

The offence is alleged to have taken place between October 1999 and January 2005. Mr Keane made no plea and has been granted bail.

Mr Keane rose to prominence in the 1990's when he helped oust the then Celtic board and ensure the club's takeover by Fergus McCann.

He later went on the become chairman of Livingston. The club went into administration in 2004 with debts running into millions.
