Two Chinese immigrants, who claimed to have been carrying out gardening duties, have been jailed for operating a cannabis factory worth over £200,000.
Jhen De Feng was given 27 months while Bao Liang was jailed for 22 months for growing the drug in Marshall Drive in the California area of Falkirk.
The pair may now face possible deportation back to China.
Falkirk Sheriff Court heard the plants were found when the property's landlord visited to read the electricity meter.
He found cabling had been attached, bypassing the meter, and reported his suspicions to police on 1 March.
A raid by police officers later that day discovered hundreds of plants in the property.
"They were in effect gardeners - but they did know what the plants were"Fiscal depute Fiona Dourish told the court: "They found that the main bedroom on the upper floor had lighting and other equipment for the production of cannabis.
"There were 281 plants with a minimum value of £207,000 over a six-month period.
"Officers said it had all the hallmarks of an organised crime group."
Jhen, 26, described in court papers as a prisoner in HMP Barlinnie, pleaded guilty to producing cannabis and attempting to pervert the course of justice by giving a false name.
Bao, 29, also described as a prisoner in HMP Barlinnie, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
Defending Jhen, solicitor Simon Hutchison said the pair were at the "lower end" of a drugs network
He said: "My client says he had only arrived at the house the previous day, and was told to help the other man water the plants.
"They were in effect gardeners - but they did know what the plants were.
"They had not set up the operation.
"In the house, they only had the belongings on their back and a sleeping bag each."
A deportation hearing for the men has been fixed for 15 August.
