Armed police remain outside a house in Falkirk where a man is said to be barricaded inside.

Officers from Central Scotland Police were called to the property in Hallglen Terrace, Glen Village, on Friday amid reports of a stand-off.

Residents in nearby homes were evacuated and the street cordoned off.

Police said an arrest warrant had been issued for a male. A spokesman said: "We are dealing with an ongoing incident. Public safety is a priority."

He added: "Armed officers are in attendance along with other officers from Central Scotland Police at an address there."

It is believed there has been a police presence within the vicinity of the property since Thursday evening.

Thomas English, who lives in the neighbourhood, described the situation as "unbelievable."

He said: "I looked out of my window and saw the police armed response vehicles.

"It's usually a quiet, wee place."
