Police patrols on SPL title D-day

Tannadice

Police have said there will be high visibility patrols around Dundee as the SPL title is decided.

There will be extra police at Tannadice because it is a full-house and because the trophy will be handed to Celtic if they are declared the league winners.

Officers will also be patrolling around pubs and out on the roads to try to prevent any problems.

However, the force said they had not received any intelligence to suggest there would be widespread trouble.

'Celebratory event'

Rangers will be playing in Aberdeen and are also aiming to be named SPL Champions.

Ch Supt Arron Duncan said: "We're very alive to the potential en route for fans to come into contact with each other and we've identified these locations and appropriate policing arrangements are in place by all the forces that may be included along the route.

"It's a celebratory event, yes there will be disappointment, but there's nothing to suggest that that should lead to widespread problems across the city.

"Obviously both matches are being televised live within the pubs in the city and there's an appropriate policing response to deal with any aftermath of that as well."
