Hundreds of cannabis plants found

Cannabis plant Police have recovered 300 cannabis plants in a raid on an operation thought capable of producing nearly £100,000 worth of the drug a year.

Two men, aged 29 and 19, were arrested by officers during the raid at Marshall Drive in California, near Falkirk.

Drugs officers said the seizure was made at the weekend following a tip-off from a member of the public.

Central Scotland Police have urged property owners to be vigilant of drug cultivation.

Police said the plants would have been yielding about £8,000 of the drug a month.

Det Sgt Ian Shaw, of the force's drugs unit, said: "Across the UK, there is a pattern of organised crime groups establishing cultivations in residential property and we would ask anyone who suspects such activity is taking place in the Central Scotland area to contact the police immediately."
