A teaching assistant at a Falkirk primary school has been suspended over allegations she carried out unauthorised blood tests on pupils.
It is understood the assistant was permitted to take blood samples from a diabetic pupil at Laurieston Primary School.
However, she is alleged to have carried out further tests on other pupils using a diabetic pen.
The case has now been forwarded to the procurator fiscal's office.
A spokesman for Falkirk Council said the assistant had been suspended as part of normal procedure while the investigation into the incident continued.
He said: "There is a police investigation. We cannot comment but we are cooperating with the police."
A spokesman for Central Scotland Police said: "We can confirm officers have investigated an allegation of assault made against a member of staff.
"The matter has now been forwarded to the procurator fiscal."
