Lawyers representing Mohammed Atif Siddique said the trial could have been affected if it had started in the wake of the recent car bomb attacks.
Mr Siddique, from Clackmannanshire, is charged under the Terrorism Act of 2000 with five offences.
His trial is due to start on 20 August at the High Court in Glasgow.
Mr Siddique's lawyer, Donald Findlay QC, said at the court that he hoped that by the time the trial gets under way, the "events" regarding London and Glasgow Airport would have calmed down.

However he warned that any future incidents, such as the threat by a senior al-Qaeda figure to kill Satanic Verses author Salman Rushdie because he is to receive a knighthood, might also have an impact on the trial.
The QC also referred to an article in a Sunday newspaper which claimed there was a plot by home-grown terrorists to blow up Edinburgh Airport.
Mr Findlay urged newspapers to be careful not to publish anything to do with the Siddique case, or anything that might deliberately or inadvertently confuse the issues concerning it.
Mr Siddique, of Myretoungate, Alva, denies all five charges under the Prevention of Terrorism Act 2000 which were allegedly carried out over a three year period.
