T tickets sell out in 10 minutes

Picture by Andrew Hendry Thousands of extra tickets for the T in the Park music festival sold out in just 10 minutes.

The 12,000 extra briefs for the event, which takes place on 8 and 9 July, went on sale at 0900 BST on Saturday.

They became available after some tickets were cancelled following an anti-touting operation.

Festival operator Big Day Out was also given permission to increase capacity at the Balado venue. It will now be attended by 75,000 music fans each day.

Tickets for the event, near Kinross, sold out in record time in February after fans queued through the night.

"We have taken considerable measures to reclaim tickets from those attempting to make multiple purchases"

The additional tickets - 6,000 for each day - were made available online and by phone.

Big Day Out's chief executive Geoff Ellis said: "We are thrilled that the final tickets for the event have sold so quickly.

"We work hard all year round to ensure that we are providing the best event possible come July and we have taken considerable measures to reclaim tickets from those attempting to make multiple purchases, which have now been redistributed to fans who will witness the best ever T in the Park this summer."

The festival line-up this year includes The Who and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Organisers have warned those without tickets to stay away from the festival venue.

This year the site will be surrounded by a "fortress fence" and an exclusion zone.
