Youth arrested over man's death

Robert Smith Police have arrested a 17-year-old male after the death of a 51-year-old man on his way home from a night out.

Robert Smith was discovered lying on the pavement near Dundee city centre shortly after midnight on Sunday with serious head injuries.

Passers-by found the BT worker in Brook Street, near Edward Street, and tried to help until paramedics arrived.

Police said on Monday that a teenager had been arrested. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Mr Smith, who was single, lived on Dundee's Blackness Road.

Detectives are still appealing to anyone who may have information on the incident.
