A former Scottish league footballer has been appointed the new chief executive with NHS Borders.
Calum Campbell, 43, who played as a striker for Airdrie, Kilmarnock, Partick Thistle and Dumbarton, will take up his new post in January.
He is currently working in Wales as acting chief executive with ABM University NHS Trust.
Mr Campbell said he was looking forward to returning to Scotland to help build on the successes of NHS Borders.
He said he hoped the skills he had gained elsewhere could be used to "meet the needs of the population" in the region.
"The opportunity to be chief executive is both exciting and a challenge that I am looking forward to," he said.
Mr Campbell started his career with the NHS in 1984 as a nurse and later became a health visitor before moving into a managerial post.
Between 1987 and 1996 he balanced his health service career with his role as a footballer in the Scottish league.
