Nose biter ordered to pay £1,500

Dumfries Sheriff Court

A man who bit off part of another man's nose has been ordered to pay £1,500 in compensation.

David Wilson, 39, of Armour Drive, Dumfries, admitted the assault on David Kennedy in the town in May.

The incident happened at a house in Dunlop Road after an argument broke out between the two men.

Wilson was ordered to pay compensation at Dumfries Sheriff Court and he was also put on probation for 12 months and given 300 hours of community service.

The court heard how the argument between the two men had unfolded.

Wilson suddenly bit the other man on the nose and a part of the tip came off.

The victim was taken to Dumfries Infirmary but it was not possible to attach the part that had come off and Mr Kennedy had to have a skin graft.

Solicitor Liz Dougan said Wilson was deeply ashamed of his behaviour.

She said he drank three litres of whisky at weekends and was now taking steps to change that behaviour.
