Teenage girl assaulted in street

Police have launched an investigation after a 14-year-old girl was assaulted by two young women in Dumfries.

The incident happened at the junction between Union Street and College Street on Monday at about 2030 BST.

The two women who carried out the attack were in a group of six people who were in the area at the time.

One of the attackers was 5ft 4in, with a slightly heavy build. She had brown hair and was wearing a blue waterproof jacket and jeans.

The victim was taken to Dumfries Infirmary to receive treatment to minor injuries and was later released.
