Man dies after head-on collision

A75 crash vehicle

An elderly man who was cut free from a car after a head-on collision on the A75 in Dumfries and Galloway has died.

His female passenger remains in a critical condition after the crash which took place about half a mile west of Gretna at about 1425 BST.

The collision involved a silver Rover 25 car and a silver Toyota Previa people carrier.

Seven people in the Toyota were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The road was closed for seven hours.
