Ward closed by sickness outbreak

Dumfries Infirmary

A ward at Dumfries Infirmary has been closed after the outbreak of a sickness bug in the hospital.

The situation is being monitored by NHS Dumfries and Galloway's infection control team.

Nine patients and three staff have been affected by the diarrhoea and vomiting outbreak which led to ward nine's closure on Thursday.

Hospital visitors have been urged to observe hand hygiene guidelines to prevent the spread of the bug.

The last significant outbreak at the infirmary was in February when more than a dozen patients were affected in one ward.
