The Scottish Government has approved the demolition of an "eyesore" disused hotel in the Borders.
Scottish Borders Council had refused an application to knock down the Royal Hotel in Stow.
However, that decision has now been overturned leaving the way clear for the site to be converted into flats.
South of Scotland MSP, Christine Grahame, said the decision reflected the preference of the majority of the town's residents.
She said: "I am pleased that we can now move on from what had become an impasse and that the local community will not be left with what had regrettably become an eyesore and possible hazard especially to children."
