Man on rape and indecency charges

A man from Edinburgh has appeared in private at Dumfries Sheriff Court on charges of rape and indecency.

Walter Harkness, 36, of Calder Park, Sighthill, was on a petition alleging the rape of a girl aged under 16 between 1981 and 1991 in Dumfries.

He was also accused of indecent behaviour towards a young boy between 1987 and 1990.

No plea was made and the case before Sheriff Kenneth Ross at Dumfries was continued.
