Two teenagers have appeared in court on assault charges after an attack in Dumfries which left a 60-year-old man critically ill in hospital.

Gavin Laurie, 19, of Calside Road, and Philip Dick, 19, of Connolly Close, both Dumfries, appeared in private.

They were on a petition alleging they carried out an attack near the White Hart Hotel in the town on Sunday.

No plea or declaration was made and the case at Dumfries Sheriff Court was continued.
