YouTube drinking video condemned

Bottles of drink An alcohol support group has condemned internet video footage apparently showing teenagers drinking heavily.

The group from Dumfries - which calls itself the Friday Night Drinking Crew - posted the film on YouTube.

The video contains a series of images of the teenagers holding a number of different bottles of alcohol.

Mike McLurg, who chairs Alcohol and Drugs Support South West Scotland, said the clips sent out the wrong message to other young people.

'Over indulgence'

He said it was disappointing the internet was being used for such a purpose.

"It is worrying that young people are on YouTube via their internet promoting over indulgence in drink," said Mr McLurg.

"There is no glorification in getting drunk - getting out of your face with alcohol.

"To use the internet to show how drunk you can get is the wrong thing to do."
