Bus service 'chaos' claim denied

Trade union officials in Aberdeen have claimed Saturday bus services in the city were thrown into chaos as a result of industrial action on Thursday.

Drivers took part in a 24-hour strike in a row over pay, which has been followed by a work to rule.

The Unite union said up to 70 buses were out of action on Saturday morning because mechanics would not inspect them and drivers would not drive them.

First denied the claim and said only a handful of buses did not go out.

The firm confirmed a higher number of vehicles than normal did require a service, but said they were doing all they could to keep the impact on passengers to a minimum.

Special timetables were being introduced for some services in Aberdeen from Sunday, due to the ongoing industrial action.
