Two teenagers have died in a crash in Aberdeenshire.
Police said they encountered a scene of "devastation" when they attended the two-car accident on an unclassified road near Turriff on Thursday evening.
A 15-year-old girl, who had been travelling in a red Volkswagen Polo, died at the scene. The 18-year-old male driver of the Polo died in hospital.
Another passenger and the driver of the other car were also taken to hospital. Their injuries were not serious.
"It's a disaster waiting to happen. It's a very fast stretch of road"
The accident scene was visited by several visibly upset people on Friday.
Turriff and District councillor Sandy Duncan told BBC Scotland: "When I first heard about the accident I was really distressed to hear about more young lives being lost on the roads.
"My thoughts and condolences go out to the families of the people who lost their lives.
"It will be felt really badly in the community."

Joan Johnson, of nearby Delgatie Castle, told BBC Scotland: "It's sad to hear the loss of two young lives.
"I feel sorry for the mums and dads.
"I just saw the flashing lights on the road and heard about it on the BBC."
She added: "It's a disaster waiting to happen. It's a very fast stretch of road."
The road was closed for several hours to allow accident investigations to take place.
Grampian Police appealed for witnesses.
