Woman badly hurt in road accident

Garthdee accident traffic delays

A female cyclist was taken to hospital under police escort after an accident with a lorry in Aberdeen which caused major traffic delays.

The accident happened at the Garthdee roundabout at the bottom of South Anderson Drive at about 1400 BST.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said the 20-year-old woman suffered serious leg and pelvic injuries and was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The road was closed for several hours, causing a large build-up of traffic.
