Council to get wind farm petition

Shetland Viking Energy windfarm protest

A petition of thousands of names against plans for Scotland's biggest community wind farm in Shetland is to be handed to the council.

The Viking Energy project for 150 turbines is a joint venture between Scottish and Southern Energy and the island community.

It is estimated it could make £37m a year locally and create many jobs, but opponents have said it is too big.

More than 3,600 signatures will be presented on Wednesday.
