Funeral for 'murder victim' held

Alan Bennett

The funeral of a man whose death in Aberdeen is being treated as murder has been held.

The body of insurance broker Alan Bennett, 56, from Cove, was discovered on 30 May in Oldmill Road.

Paul Balgowan, 23, and Julie Carroll, 24, both from Aberdeen, have appeared in court charged with murder. Both made no plea and were remanded in custody.

The funeral of the "devoted husband" was held at Aberdeen Crematorium over Tuesday lunchtime.

Mr Bennett's wife Gillian said in an earlier statement: "We are devastated. It's impossible to describe the loss.

"Alan will always be missed. He was adored by his close family and friends."

Mr Bennett had been out with work colleagues prior to his death.
