Driver approached nine-year-old

Police are investigating a suspicious incident which saw a motorist ask a nine-year-old girl if she wanted to go with him.

The girl was close to the Cotter Hoose pub in Thornhill Road, Elgin, at 1400 GMT on Tuesday when the lone male approached her.

He was driving a dark blue vehicle, similar to a Renault, and is described as being aged 69-years-old.

He had short, grey hair and was wearing square-framed glasses.

Grampian Police appealed for witnesses to contact them, and said they were particularly keen to speak to a woman wearing a purple coat who was walking a black and white dog nearby at the time.

The force stressed it had been an "isolated incident".
