Murdered man named by detectives

Police have named a 51-year-old man who was found murdered in Aberdeen in the early hours of Monday.

Alexander Flett was seriously injured during an incident at an address in Stornoway Crescent, in the Sheddocksley area of the city, just after midnight.

Mr Flett, a forklift truck driver, was taken to hospital, where he died a short time later.

No arrests have been made in relation to the incident. Detectives have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Det Supt Campbell Thomson said his team was carrying out door-to-door inquiries and forensic officers were continuing their examination of the scene, which remained cordoned-off.

Det Insp Stewart Kidd, the senior investigating officer in the murder inquiry, said: "Our inquiries are still at a relatively early stage and so far we have had a positive response to our appeal for information.

"However, we would appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, no matter how insignificant it may seem to you, in the Stornoway Crescent and Barvas Walk area of Aberdeen to contact Grampian Police."
