Evacuation fire was 'suspicious'

A fire which forced the evacuation of residents from a flat in a village is being treated as suspicious.

Fire crews were called to Deebank Road in Ballater just after 2000 BST on Wednesday to tackle a blaze in an outbuilding.

Smoke spread to nearby flats and five residents were evacuated. A 37-year-old woman was checked over by paramedics.

Grampian Police said if it had happened later in the night the consequences could have been "far worse".
