Trump golf ruling within 28 days

Donald Trump

The public local inquiry report into Donald Trump's £1bn golf resort plans has been received by Finance Secretary John Swinney.

Mr Swinney has committed to make a final decision within 28 days, which is expected on or before 12 November.

Mr Trump hopes to build a resort, featuring two championship golf courses and homes at Menie, north of Aberdeen.

Mr Trump's spokesman George Sorial said: "We look forward to a final decision."

The plan was called in by the Scottish Government after an Aberdeenshire Council committee rejected it.

Many business leaders have backed it, but groups including Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) and RSPB Scotland have opposed the project, due to Mr Trump's plans to build part of a course on sand dunes.
