Bypass probe looks at south route

Route map

The ongoing public local inquiry into the Aberdeen bypass is set to focus on the southern leg of the scheme.

The inquiry has so far examined the north stretch and the plan as a whole.

For the next three weeks, it will focus on the southern leg from Kingswells. This is the stretch thought likely to prove most controversial.

The inquiry is currently not expected to conclude until 10 December. The bypass is aimed at easing traffic and improving business.

The ongoing inquiry at the Hilton Aberdeen Treetops Hotel got under way last month.

The Scottish Government said the probe was necessary because of the public response.
