Man appears in court over murder

A man has appeared in court in Aberdeen charged with murder.

Christopher Branigan, 41, was found in a common stairwell in the city's Ritchie Place on 29 July.

Calvin Brown, 21, from Birmingham, appeared on petition in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Friday afternoon charged with his murder.

Mr Brown also faced two drug charges. He made no plea or declaration, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
