Man in court over death of baby

Alexis Matheson

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a six-week-old baby girl at an address in Aberdeen.

Mark Simpson, 27, is alleged to have assaulted Alexis Matheson between 8 November and 9 December.

Alexis died in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh on 10 December after being transferred from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Simpson, of Deansloch Crescent, Aberdeen, made no plea and was remanded at the city's sheriff court.
