Plans to transform Union Terrace Gardens in Aberdeen with a community arts centre have been approved.
The £10m plans include areas for film screenings and music performances plus workshops and dance and TV studios.
Council planning officials had recommended approval, arguing the centre would bring cultural and economic benefits to the city.
Councillors also approved plans for the International School to relocate to Pitfodels, due to the city bypass plan.
'Iconic building'
Peacock Visual Arts will work with Aberdeen City Council on the plan, which is subject to approval by Scottish ministers.
Part of the roof areas on the lower levels of the Union Terrace Gardens development will be grassed over and the public entrance will be from Union Terrace.

"It is wonderful to receive recognition that this centre will deliver a beautiful, iconic building that puts Aberdeen on the cultural map where it belongs as a cosmopolitan 21st century city, while at the same time restoring the gardens as a safe, family-friendly destination for all of Aberdeen's communities."
