Members of the Royal Family have attended a world-famous Highland games event in Aberdeenshire.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were greeted by cheering crowds as they attended the Braemar Gathering.
They were accompanied by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Rothesay who are on holiday at nearby Birkhall.
Princess Anne and her husband, Rear Admiral Timothy Laurence, also joined the royal party as they sat in the enclosed pavilion.
The dull weather and spells of rain appeared not to bother the royal party who smiled and looked relaxed as they watched the games, which include Highland dancing and tossing the caber.
During a tug of war between Balmoral and Invercauld estates, the Queen lifted her hands up and clapped in delight as Balmoral were declared the winners.
And Prince Philip appeared to enjoy the children's sack race, laughing and pointing as one girl took the lead.
The games were first held in 1832 and are a popular event on the Highland games and Royal calendar.
