Vandals kill valuable shellfish

Tens of thousands of pounds worth of shellfish have died after vandals caused damage at a storage depot in the Highlands.

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said a significant number of live shellfish were killed.

The incident happened at Sutherland Game & Shellfish storage facility at Shinness, Lairg, in Sutherland.

The vandals were thought to have struck sometime before 2 November but the incident has just been reported.

Police would not reveal the type of shellfish killed as it was important to the inquiry, but urged anyone with information to contact them.
